At Mid-Island Sexual Assault Services, we work hard to minimize barriers to services, to create allies, to provide education and awareness, and to support all survivors of sexual assault within the Mid-Vancouver Island area.
By working in collaboration and in conjunction with other services, we are able to enhance existing services, while also helping to fill any gaps and to provide a wraparound approach for each survivor. Our goal is to create a safe space for healing by providing a caring and supportive response to disclosures of sexual assault, as well as to provide the services and support you need to heal in the community where you already have connections and attachments.
Both our support worker program and clinical counselling program offer virtual services via phone or through Microsoft Teams to meet the needs of survivors who are unable to connect in person or in an office.
Our support worker program can provide the emotional and practical support you need to heal from a recent or historical sexual assault. When you reach out to our support worker program, our team will respond to you within 72 hours and will help you access any outreach and crisis accompaniment services (police, medical, etc.) you need. Our team can also help with:
Our registered clinician is available to provide short-term clinical counselling (10-12 sessions) to individuals who are healing from the trauma of sexual assault. During your sessions, we will be focused on an assessment of your needs, supporting you with managing the most immediate emotional and traumatic impacts and referring you to longer term resources, if required. Our counselling services are trauma-focused and designed to provide inclusion and acceptance for people of all backgrounds.
All referrals for our clinical counselling program come through our Sexual Assault Services Support Worker Program.
